Artist Statement:

I’m a Costume Designer that aims to create beautiful and highly detailed work that instills a sense of awe and admiration in the audience by bringing the sartorial  into the storytelling. I enrich actors’ performance physically and internally by transforming costume into clothing by creating a physical link to the character. My background in historical research allows me to capture the realistic with precision and attention to detail and rigorous research embedded in the historical, sociological, and anthropological context of the work. I create romantic tableaus that have high production quality and look like they could fit into an impressionist painting like my most recent work on The Seagull. I design work with elevated taste that aims to refine the average theatergoer’s taste. My experience in fringe theater molded me into a sustainable artist that can make so little look like so much.  I want to prove that despite limited resources, beautiful and detailed designs are possible. I’m influenced by the artistry and storytelling of couture, the answers that can be found in history, and the humor and nuance of the mundane.
